Steps to quickly rebuild of existing standby database:

There are situations where you will have to rebuild your existing standby database as a result of  various situations like primary db was restored from backup with open reset logs.


1. Disable log shipping to standby database (that you want to rebuild "alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2=defer").

2. Take full bakup from PRIMARY DB.

3. Take standby controlfile backup.

4. Copy backup and standby control file to standby server.

5. Drop datalafiles and controlfiles on standby Database.

6. Copy new standby control files to all controlfile locations.

7. Mount standby Database

8. Restore standby database.

8.  Enable log shipping to standby database(alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2=enable).

9. Recover managed standby database (on standby).

IMPDP SHOW=Y, sqlfile=test.sql

Most of the legacy mode options will work in the data pump with its corresponding options. In legacy mode (imp utility) we have show=y option to spool the content of the dump file into sql scripts without doing the actual import. ORACLE FAL_CLIENT and FAL_SERVER explained

FAL_CLIENT and FAL_SERVER are initialization parameters used to configure log gap detection and resolution at the standby database side of a physical database configuration. This functionality is provided by log apply services and is used by the physical standby database to manage the detection and resolution of archived redo logs. FAL_CLIENT and FAL_SERVER only need to be defined in the initialization parameter file for the standby database(s). It is possible; however, to define these two parameters in the initialization parameter for the primary database server to ease the amount of work that would need to be performed if the primary database were required to transition its role.
